A Message from the President

It is with great sadness that I announce the dissolution of Scholarships, Inc. After 65 years of service, we will hold our last Awards Ceremony on May 6, 2025.

There are so many organizations and individuals we need to thank for all the success we have had over the years. A huge thank you to the Hayward Rotary, The Peter Sategna Foundation, HUSD, Gianni’s, Hayward City Council. We also thank all the High School counselors who nominated the incredible and talented award recipients.

I’d like to thank special individuals who volunteered at our events: Paul Gonsalves, Jennifer Gonsalves, Allen Bertillion, Tom and Linda Carroll, and our webmaster, Tom Jackson.

Most importantly, I want to commend our Board and Advisors who have worked tirelessly over MANY years to provide our graduating seniors financial help in pursuing their post-secondary education. In no particular order: Mary Ann O’Toole, Pat McNichol, Jeanne Lycett, Linda Hendley, Marge Sakai, Gloria Griswold, Rich Mathewson, Winnie Thompson, Jay Singh, Dayton Crummey, Patti Crotti, Linda Henika, Diane Balloue, and Jackie Bertillion. These dedicated individuals are what made Scholarships, Inc thrive and endure as long as it has. We are an aging group of volunteers who have thoroughly loved providing our Hayward students financial assistance to attain their post-secondary goals.

To all of you who have supported us, please know we are very grateful and hope you will find some other way to support and encourage our youth to follow their dreams and college/career aspirations.
